Job summary

Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company in West Des Moines, IA is offering a 2027 Summer Internship for currently-enrolled undergraduates in IT/CS/SE. The paid program runs May 17 to August 6, up to 40 hours per week, with potential to become a full-time role.

Interns will assist with software builds, deployments, and DevOps tooling, gaining hands-on experience in a collaborative IT environment with on-site facilities and company activities.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior or senior in an undergrad program majoring in IT, CS, Software Engineering or related field (May 2027 grads not eligible).
• Willing to learn, communicate clearly, follow procedures and work with experienced team members.
• Exposure to scripting, source control, Linux/Windows, CI/CD is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learns and assists with software builds, including running builds and troubleshooting build issues.
• Assists with application deployments in development, test, and other environments using established procedures.
• Supports configuration and maintenance of DevOps and application-management tools and related scripts/docs.
• Assists with scoped application upgrades and routine maintenance for GitHub and other tools.
• Helps monitor and troubleshoot assigned systems and escalates as needed.
• Follows IT, security and change-management standards and performs related duties.
