Job summary

Swoon is seeking an experienced Java/Spring Boot developer in Plano, TX to design, build, and deploy scalable enterprise applications. You will work on RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native modernization initiatives within a banking/financial services context.

The role demands strong Java/J2EE skills, Spring Boot expertise, and hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. Collaboration with Product, UX, Architecture, QA, and Ops teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE.
• Strong experience with Spring Framework / Spring Boot.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and software engineering principles.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise applications.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Develop highly available and resilient applications following enterprise engineering best practices.
• Work with AWS/cloud technologies to develop, deploy, and modernize applications.
• Design and optimize database solutions using SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or similar platforms.
• Implement automated unit, integration, and functional testing.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.
• Troubleshoot application performance, production issues, and integration problems.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Work with cross-functional teams including Product, UX, Architecture, QA, and Operations.
• Contribute to application modernization efforts, including migration from legacy platforms to modern cloud-native architectures.
• Follow secure coding practices and enterprise security standards appropriate for financial services applications.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
