Job summary

Swoon in McLean, VA is seeking a seasoned software engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy scalable applications using Java and Spring Boot. You will build RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise-grade systems, participate in the full SDLC, and ensure high availability and secure coding practices.

You will work with AWS cloud technologies, relational databases like Oracle or PostgreSQL, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands-on Java/J2EE and Spring Framework / Spring Boot experience.
• Experience developing REST APIs and microservices.
• Strong understanding of OO design and software engineering principles.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Experience with Git and modern software development practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience with unit testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize database solutions using SQL and relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL.
• Implement automated unit, integration, and functional testing.
• Participate in code reviews and provide technical guidance to other developers.
• Troubleshoot application performance, production issues, and integration problems.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments.
• Work with cross-functional teams including Product, UX, Architecture, QA, and Operations.
• Contribute to application modernization efforts, including migration from legacy platforms to modern cloud-native architectures.
• Follow secure coding practices and enterprise security standards for financial services apps.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
