We are seeking a Java/AWS Engineer to design, develop, and maintain modern, highly available, and scalable cloud-based applications and interfaces for a next-generation platform. This role involves building enterprise-grade solutions using Java, Node.js, AWS, Kafka, REST APIs, and cloud-native technologies while contributing to architectural initiatives, production support, and continuous improvement within an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain highly available and scalable cloud-based applications and interfaces.
- Develop RESTful APIs using Java and Node.js.
- Design and implement event-driven applications utilizing Kafka.
- Develop and maintain database solutions using Oracle PL/SQL.
- Publish and manage APIs using API Gateway technologies such as Apigee or Stratum.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and support production environments using tools such as Splunk, Datadog, and Kibana.
- Participate in architectural design discussions and contribute to enterprise technology initiatives.
- Collaborate with Agile teams throughout sprint planning, development, testing, and deployment activities.
- Apply Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Contribute to cloud-native application development and modernization initiatives.
- Share technical knowledge, mentor team members, and promote engineering best practices.
- Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging technologies to improve application quality and delivery.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands-on software development and cloud engineering experience.
- 3+ years of experience working on complex architectural designs and technology initiatives.
- 3+ years of experience working in Agile development environments using Scrum or Kanban.
- 3+ years of experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD).
- Strong experience developing RESTful APIs using Java and Node.js.
- Experience designing and developing event-driven applications using Kafka.
- Experience publishing APIs using API Gateway technologies such as Apigee or Stratum.
- Experience using production support and monitoring tools such as Splunk, Datadog, or Kibana.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing cloud-native applications on AWS, including Lambda, EKS, Step Functions, S3, and DynamoDB.
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Jenkins Core, uDeploy, Concourse, or Terraform.
- Experience with data modeling and data processing pipelines.
- Experience with Docker or other containerization technologies.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and operational data stores.
- Understanding of end-to-end application, network, and infrastructure architecture.
- Mainframe and COBOL experience.
- Experience developing automated test cases using BDD and TDD frameworks such as JEST, Cucumber, and Selenium.
