We are seeking a part-time preschool teacher for our Japanese Saturday School. The ideal candidate will balance high support, a growth mindset, and a genuine joy for working with students. This role is from August 2025 to July 2026, from 8 am to 3 pm on Saturdays, reporting to the Saturday Japanese School Director.

Essential Duties

1. Plan and teach a challenging, developmentally appropriate course, differentiating instruction and utilizing assessments effectively.
2. Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment that promotes learning.
3. Maintain outstanding communication with parents via emails, newsletters, or blogs.
4. Share evaluations, grades, and homework with parents efficiently.
5. Engage students actively in learning through a student-centered approach.
6. Incorporate technology in preparation and instruction without relying solely on it.
7. Model intellectual curiosity and openness to different cultures.
8. Use positive reinforcement, manage discipline, and resolve conflicts effectively.
9. Conduct classes with integrity and model appropriate student behavior.
10. Evaluate classwork and assessments fairly and regularly.
11. Report student concerns promptly and seek support when needed.
12. Supervise students during recess, lunch, and field trips.
13. Stay current with curriculum and instructional methods.
14. Engage in professional development opportunities.
15. Collaborate with team members on scheduling and planning.
16. Participate actively in grade-level and faculty meetings.
17. Contribute positively to the school community.

Requirements

• At least two years of preschool teaching experience.
• Fluent in Japanese.
• Childhood Education Certification preferred.
• Ability to create a safe and supportive classroom environment.
• Strong personal accountability and a passion for high-level student learning.
• Current U.S. work visa preferred, if applicable.

Benefits

This position pays $35.00 per hour.
