Kennedy International School provides a bilingual, well-rounded education for students from preschool through 12th grade. Our individualized approach to instruction, supported by a small student-teacher ratio, encourages students to leverage their personal strengths and passions while developing their language and academic skills.

We are seeking a part-time elementary school teacher for our Japanese Saturday School, from August 2025 to July 2026. The role is from 8 am to 3 pm on Saturdays (7 hours) and reports to the Saturday Japanese School Director.

Essential Duties

1. Plan and teach a challenging, developmentally appropriate course, differentiating instruction and using assessments effectively.
2. Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment to promote learning.
3. Maintain outstanding communication with parents via emails, newsletters, or blogs.
4. Share evaluations, grades, and homework assignments efficiently with parents.
5. Engage students actively with a student-centered classroom approach.
6. Utilize technology in class preparation and instruction without over-relying on it.
7. Model curiosity and openness to different cultures.
8. Use positive reinforcement, manage discipline, and resolve conflicts.
9. Conduct classes with integrity and model appropriate behavior.
10. Evaluate classwork and assessments fairly and regularly.
11. Report student concerns and seek support when needed.
12. Supervise students during recess, lunch, and field trips.
13. Stay current with curriculum and instructional methods.
14. Pursue professional growth opportunities.
15. Collaborate with team members on scheduling and planning.
16. Participate in grade-level and faculty meetings.
17. Contribute positively to the school community.

Requirements

1. At least two years of elementary teaching experience.
2. Fluency in Japanese.
3. Childhood Education Certification (preferred).
4. Ability to create a safe, supportive classroom environment.
5. Strong personal accountability and passion for high-level student learning.
6. Current U.S. work visa (preferred).

Benefits

This role offers $35.00 per hour.
