Janitor- Floor Supervisor (Belle Chasse, LA) at Goodwill Industries of Southern Louisiana
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support floor technicians and janitorial staff during assigned shifts.
- Train staff on equipment use, chemical handling, and safety procedures.
- Ensure proper floor care procedures are followed (stripping, waxing, buffing, scrubbing, and carpet care).
- Schedule janitorial employees, controlling payroll costs while ensuring adequate coverage and quality service.
- Supervise and motivate janitorial employees to reach production guidelines and maintain high productivity.
- Assign daily tasks and adjust staffing as needed.
- Address performance issues, provide coaching, and report concerns to management.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Prepare personnel and payroll records in a timely manner.
- Complete accurately other paperwork required in the day‑to‑day operation of the contract.
- Inventory and request supplies, ensuring reorders are placed before stock is depleted.
- Inspect contract equipment on a regular schedule and maintain an equipment inspection log.
- Act as a positive role model for employees and customers in all aspects of professional performance.
- Address all customer complaints promptly and satisfactorily.
- Notify the Project Manager of all customer complaints and other issues that may arise at the worksite.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, OSHA standards, and site‑specific requirements to ensure full compliance.
- Ensure the daily safety meeting is conducted and documented.
- Hold an employees’ meeting monthly and document discussions, covering safety topics.
- Keep a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the company’s automotive insurance carrier; obey all traffic and safety laws.
- Perform all duties as required by contract/Goodwill management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

- Function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in the custodial field with two years of supervisory experience.
- Must wear company‑issued uniforms.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Knowledge of floor care equipment and cleaning chemicals.
Working Conditions
Frequent physical exertion; exposure to cleaning chemicals, fumes from buffing machines, and potentially infectious materials.
