Job summary

The Decatur County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Jail Administrator to oversee daily jail operations, inmate custody, bookings and records under the Undersheriff. You will manage administrative and financial functions, ensure safety and order, and respond to incidents while coordinating with law enforcement and courts.

Minimum qualifications include 18+ years, a high school diploma or GED, a Kansas driver’s license, CPR certification, and the ability to pass a background check and obtain NCIC

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age (21 preferred).
• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Kansas Driver’s License or ability to obtain.
• Possess or be able to obtain CPR Certification.
• Good moral character; no felony convictions.
• No domestic or sexual misdemeanor convictions.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
• Ability to obtain NCIC certification after employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily jail administration and operations.
• Manage custody, care, intake, processing and supervision of inmates.
• Handle administrative and financial operations of the facility.
• Maintain records, funds, inventory and commissary accounts.
• Ensure compliance with laws, policies, and procedures.
• Communicate with inmates, staff, courts and the public as needed.
