Job summary

FabCorp is seeking a Grinder to operate bench grinders, hand tools and other equipment to finish and protect parts in our Houston, TX facility. The role requires following safety guidelines, maintaining a clean work area, and logging work orders as part of daily duties.

Candidates with previous grinding experience and forklift familiarity are preferred; on-the-job training will be provided. Hours are full-time, hourly non-exempt; attendance and punctuality are essential.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in manufacturing or grinding preferred.
  • On-the-job training provided for barcode logging and forklift use.
  • Must follow safety guidelines and maintain clean work area.

Responsibilities

  • Operate grinding equipment to finish parts.
  • Log work orders via barcode system.
  • Move pallets with forklift as needed.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area.
  • Follow safety guidelines and attendance requirements.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

SUMMARY

Operates bench grinders, hand tools and other equipment to finish and protect parts.

REQUIRED COMPENTENCIES
  • Operates grinding equipment and wheelabrator to finish parts.
  • Applies oils and other protective coatings as specified or instructed.
  • Operates forklift to move pallets or containers of parts to various departments or areas of the shop.
  • Checks grinding equipment for usability and safe operation.
  • Cleans and maintains orderly work area.
  • Upkeep and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Follow company safety & security guidelines
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
  • Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Use of barcode and computer equipment to log in to work orders
  • Forklift operation
  • Use of general grinding equipment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing into and out of equipment; reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes, hands, fingers and feet to operate tools and equipment; lifting up to 30 pounds from ground level, waist level, and/or overhead; carrying objects, tools, equipment, etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction. The employee is frequently required to sit while performing the duties of this job (approx. 70%) walk (30%) stand (0%). The employee is expected to lift or move materials (5% of workday)
