Job summary

FORMA FAB METALS is seeking an experienced Finishing/Grind Operator in Mebane, NC. The role involves deburring parts, grinding welds, polishing and surface finishing to prepare parts for paint per workmanship standards.

Qualified candidates have a HS diploma or GED, at least 2 years of finishing tools experience in manufacturing, and the ability to read instructions. They should be comfortable with overtime and able to lift up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of experience with finishing tools in a production environment.
• Experience with metal or wood finishing preferred.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination.
• Basic computer skills and ability to read and follow written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Select and mount grinding wheels on machines according to specifications.
• Perform basic maintenance such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts.
• Inspect parts for defects and segregate.
• Remove excess material from weldments.
• Inspect grinding machines, stones, and blades for proper condition.
• Report deviations in equipment and product.
• Follow work instructions and process sheets.
• Input and maintain data in ERP system.
• Complete paperwork/job sheets for the area.
• Keep workstation clean and organized.
• Maintain attendance and work overtime as needed.

Job description

Shift: Monday-Thursday 4:30 pm - 2:00 am, overtime as needed

Position Summary: Work with electric and pneumatic hand tools to deburr parts, grind welds, polish and grain parts, and prepare parts for paint per company workmanship standards.

Essential Functions:

• Select and mount grinding wheels on machines, according to specifications, using hand tools and applying knowledge of abrasives and grinding procedures
• Performs basic maintenance, such as cleaning and lubricating machine parts
• Inspect parts for visible defects and segregate
• Remove the access material from weldments
• Responsible for inspection of grinding machines, stones, and blades to ensure proper condition
• Responsible for reporting any deviations in equipment and product
• Read and follow all related work instructions, such as shop orders, process sheets, and grinding instructions
• Input and maintain data in the ERP computer system/Global
• Complete paperwork/job sheets required for the area
• Cleaning the workstation on a daily basis
• Must maintain excellent attendance, and expect to work overtime if the need requires
• Perform all other responsibilities as assigned
• Provide a great level of attention to detail, focus on the given task, and follow safety practices
• Assist in other areas as needed

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of experience working with finishing tools in a production environment
• Should have metal or wood finishing experience
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Basic computer skills and the ability to read and follow written instructions

Environmental Conditions:

• Humidity level may be elevated during the summer months
• Exposure to loud noise, at times

Physical Demands:

• Able to stand on your feet for at least ten hours a day
• Able to lift 50-75 lbs
• This is a 40-hour per week job with the potential for overtime
