Supports the installation, activation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation of network and communications infrastructure across campus. Installs, updates, tests, supports, and documents copper, fiber, voice, data, and related communications systems in accordance with UK ITS and industry standards. Performs utility locates, supports communication closet buildouts and organization, and works in field environments that may include heights, ladders, lifts, manholes, vaults, tunnels, and other confined spaces. Responds to service incidents, analyzes and resolves basic voice and data issues, communicates work status and service impacts, and participates in on-call rotation and after-hours support as required.
Associate's degree preferred
0-1 years of related experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. All experience must be paid and in the same related field. Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week. Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
Valid Kentucky driver’s license required
This position requires regular standing and walking while carrying objects up to 50 pounds; intermittent lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects up to 100 pounds; occasional lifting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects over 100 pounds; and the ability to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher. The position requires reaching overhead, using hand tools, pushing and pulling cable, distinguishing wiring colors, traversing campus while carrying or moving equipment, and working in confined spaces for extended periods of time. The role also requires occasional sitting at a computer workstation using a computer, mouse, keyboard, and phone, along with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
