Job summary

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) seeks a Senior Database Administrator in its Agency Services area in Lansing, MI. You will design, develop, test and implement critical agency database systems, and support DBAs with advanced clustering, replication and backup tasks.

You will work in a hybrid mode with two days on-site and three remote per week, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus. Bachelor’s or higher in IT, with relevant experience, is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data processing, or related IT field or equivalent.
  • Two years of professional IT experience equivalent to IT Programmer/Analyst P11.
  • Experience with database design, development, testing and implementation.
  • Ability to provide technical support and evaluate new database technologies.

  • Design, develop, test and implement database systems for Agency Services.
  • Provide maintenance and support to specialist DBAs on clustered failover and replication.
  • Assist in configuration, backup solutions and evaluation of new database technologies.

Job description

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems. This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB.

As a Senior Database Administrator, the employee performs a complete range of information system database analyst assignments including, but not limited to, designing, developing, testing, and implementing database systems for Agency Services supporting MDHHS, Technology and Database Support Division. This individual will be looked upon to provide technical support to other team members and evaluate new database solutions and technologies. Provide maintenance, support and assistance to specialist DBAs with installation and configuration of clustered database failover, database replication, and database backup solutions.

DTMB does not participate in STEM-OPT.

ITPA 12 -- Position Description

Position Location/Remote Office:

The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

SIGNING BONUS:

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Education

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12 Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of thefollowing: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications,networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project managementor mathematics.

Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12 Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12 Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years ofexperience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may besubstituted for the education requirement.

OR Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience asan application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for theeducation requirement.
