Job summary

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) in Michigan seeks a Senior Database Administrator to design, develop, test, and implement database systems for Agency Services supporting MDHHS and DTMB. You will provide technical support to DBAs and evaluate new database solutions and technologies, including clustering, replication, and backups.

The position offers a hybrid work option (two days on-site, three days remote) in Lansing, MI with a signing bonus up to $2,500.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 21 semester credits in computer science or IT related fields.
  • Associate's degree with 16 semester credits and two years of IT experience, or equivalent.
  • High school diploma with four years of experience in programming or IT roles.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and implement database systems for Agency Services.
  • Provide maintenance and support to specialist DBAs on clustered databases and backups.
  • Evaluate new database solutions and technologies for efficiency and reliability.
  • Assist with database replication and failover configurations.

Job description

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems. This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB.

As a Senior Database Administrator, the employee performs a complete range of information system database analyst assignments including, but not limited to, designing, developing, testing, and implementing database systems for Agency Services supporting MDHHS, Technology and Database Support Division. This individual will be looked upon to provide technical support to other team members and evaluate new database solutions and technologies. Provide maintenance, support and assistance to specialist DBAs with installation and configuration of clustered database failover, database replication, and database backup solutions.

DTMB does not participate in STEM-OPT.

ITPA 12 -- Position Description

Position Location/Remote Office:

The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate. The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

SIGNING BONUS

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Education

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12

Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12

Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

OR

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12

Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.

Certain positions may require certification in specific information technology programs.
