Job summary

Tucson Electric Power seeks an IT Energy Systems (ITES) Application Engineer to work with ADMS and EMS applications for real-time grid operations in a challenging, mission-critical environment.

The role involves installing, configuring, maintaining, and testing power control systems, supporting SCADA and historian databases, and ensuring cybersecurity and uptime across 24x7 operations. Travel may be required for project needs and site support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, MIS, Systems Engineering or related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Level I: 2 years of professional experience preferred.
• Level II: 3–5 years with project management and requirements definition.
• Level III: 7+ years in application development and systems design.

Responsibilities

• Installing hardware, software and systems for power applications.
• Supporting SCADA-based remote control and monitoring, historians, and modeling apps.
• Demonstrating IT system administration and cybersecurity best practices.
• Coordinating between users, redundant systems, sites to meet uptime requirements.
• Planning, testing and commissioning databases, UI displays for grid ops.
• Developing power system models, interfaces, processes, and reports.
• Providing client support during on-call rotation.
• Creating training materials and project documentation.
