Job summary

Quanta Manufacturing Fremont is seeking an IT Systems Administrator to provide laptop and workstation support for the end-user base. You will perform Windows server and client administration, add new systems to the network, configure OS, applications, and permissions, and ensure secure printing and networking.

Responsibilities

  • Provide laptop and workstation support to end-user base.
  • Perform Windows systems administration for all platforms.

  • Troubleshoot hardware/software and network connectivity issues.
  • Provide antivirus and malware remediation and system restore.

Job description

Duties and responsibilities
  • Provide laptop administration support to company’s end user base.
  • Perform workstation windows Systems Administration for all platforms.
  • Add new systems to the network (wired and wireless) and domain including Operating System, applications, configurations to perform functions needed.
  • Set file and folder permissions.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software failures and identify network connectivity problems (wired and wireless) when they relate to laptops and other network peripheral devices.
  • Provide anti-virus support, malware removal and system restore.
  • Perform phone installations and phone programming support.
  • Provide first and second level desktop support.
  • Install and configure user workstations including system imaging.
  • Install and configure printers and print server queues.
  • Install software updates and patches.
  • Assist users in the operation of standard and non-standard software applications and packages, resolving issues and emerging needs.
  • Document all processes and procedures.
  • Perform Ethernet and fiber cable runs, terminating, tipping, and punching.
  • May assist Systems Administrator with troubleshooting of network and server problems.
  • Conduct other such duties as may be assigned or requested.
Required Skills and abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Thorough understanding of networking protocols, LAN networking, and WAN networking.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese a plus.
  • Proficient in computers and software programs
  • Understanding of manufacturing order processing flow through an MRP system
  • Experience with SAP/Order Management System
  • Ability to work normal business hours, late afternoon to late evening shift Mon-Fri and some Saturdays as needed.
Education and experience
  • Associate degree in a client/server environment
  • 2 years of experience in a similar role
  • Experience with Windows XP, 7, 8.1, 10
  • Experience with NTFS shares and permissions.
  • Experience with Ethernet and fiber cabling
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Experience with secure wireless networks
  • Understanding of basic network functions
  • Understanding of TCP/IP
  • Experience with laser jet and zebra printers in a shop floor environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk and stand on cement floors for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds at a time.
