Job summary

Prudent Technology is seeking an IT Technician in Beltsville, MD, to image Windows devices and manage end-user hardware assets. You will work at volume in a warehouse setting, applying standard images, recording asset data, and coordinating repairs and refurbishments as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Apply standard Windows images to laptops, desktops, and tablets via lite-touch imaging.
• Operate imaging benches to meet daily targets up to 300 devices.
• Troubleshoot imaging failures and escalate as needed.
• Perform initial evaluation of returned devices for refurbishment or excess.
• Review records and warranty status to decide refurbish vs. excess.
• Coordinate OEM warranty repairs and escalated issues.
• Image refurbished devices for redeployment per procedures.
• Kit devices with power cords, docks, keyboards, and mice for shipment.
• Update asset status, location, configuration, and warranty data in ITSM within two days.
• Document work orders and escalations for Federal lead review.
• Stage completed devices for shipping or deployment; support inbound inventory activities.
• Operate standard warehouse equipment and follow safety standards.

IT Technician

Prudent Technology is seeking an IT Technician to provide centralized device deployment, refurbishment, and excessing services to more than 100,000 customers nationwide. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying standard operating system images to laptops, desktops, and tablets, evaluating and repairing returned equipment, and maintaining accurate asset records in the government's IT service management system. This role requires hands-on hardware experience, comfort working to daily production targets in a warehouse environment, and strong attention to detail when recording serialized asset data.

Location: Beltsville, MD (On-Site)

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination with a Tier 1 (T1) background investigation

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Apply standard approved Microsoft Windows images to laptops, desktops, and tablets using a lite-touch imaging process.
• Operate multiple imaging benches concurrently to meet daily production targets of up to 300 devices.
• Perform basic troubleshooting when an image fails and escalated unresolved issues to the Imaging Lead.
• Conduct initial technical evaluation of returned devices, including visual inspection, power-on testing, and BIOS verification.
• Review device records and warranty status to determine whether a device is suitable for refurbishment or excess.
• Perform component-level repair, coordinate OEM warranty repairs, and escalated repair issues to the Federal Team Lead.
• Image refurbished devices for redeployment in accordance with established processes and procedures.
• Kit devices by assembling power cords, docking stations, keyboards, and mice into ready-to-ship packages.
• Update asset status, location, configuration, and warranty information for serialized assets in the ITSM and asset management systems within two business days.
• Review and update work order notes and escalated tickets that cannot be resolved to the Federal lead.
• Stage completed devices for picking, shipping, or customer deployment.
• Support receiving, picking, put-away, and inventory activities as workload requires.
• Operate standard warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, hand trucks, barcode scanners, and label printers.
• Follow OSHA and facility safety standards and report safety concerns and accidents to the onsite manager immediately.
• Complete all required federal and agency training on time and cross-train in at least one backup function.

Basic Qualifications Required Education, Certifications, Skills, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in information technology or a related field preferred.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in device imaging, end-user hardware support, IT asset management, or an IT depot environment.
• Demonstrated experience deploying Microsoft Windows operating systems to laptops, desktops, or tablets at volume.
• Working knowledge of PC hardware troubleshooting, component replacement, and BIOS-level configuration.
• Experience using an IT service management or asset management system to record work and maintain asset data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, sit, and walk for extended periods and to lift and carry material up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work full time on site in Beltsville, MD, including coverage of the mandatory 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM receiving window.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA A+ certification or an equivalent hardware certification.
• Experience with BMC Remedy, Remedy Asset Management (RAM), or ServiceNow.
• Experience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit or similar lite-touch imaging tools.
• Experience coordinating OEM warranty repairs and return merchandise authorizations.
• Experience working in a federal or government environment.
• Minimum Citizenship Status Requirements: US Citizen
