Job summary

United Water Conservation District seeks a Technology Systems Specialist to maintain and enhance desktop, server, and network infrastructure. You will optimize Windows environments, enforce security, manage backups, and support field crews with mobile access.

The role requires collaboration with control systems staff, budgeting support, vendor coordination, and documentation of IT policies. Standard hours with occasional evenings or weekends for critical projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Windows operating systems, security, and administration.
• Experience with network security and firewalls.
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware/vSphere).
• Understanding of cloud services including Azure.
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and data protection.
• Ability to develop IT policies and procedures.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer District workstations and maintain scripting for updates to keep PCs/laptops current.
• Maintain security across networked devices with endpoint protection updates.
• Provide comprehensive technical support for desktop, mobile, and printers.
• Support field teams with mobile devices and remote access tools.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and update IT infrastructure including servers and networks.
• Coordinate with vendors for support and ensure reliability of IT equipment.
• Assist in IT budgeting and procurement for hardware and software.
• Oversee deployment of new IT equipment following documented procedures.
• Conduct regular system updates to keep networks secure and current.
• Manage data backups and recovery procedures per district policy.
• Develop and administer data management policies including security and disaster recovery.
• Implement mobile device management and email retention policies.
• Maintain security systems (firewalls, access control, surveillance) and related software.
• Keep an accurate inventory of equipment and licenses.
• Ensure data security measures and VPN/mobile access security.
