Job summary

Taher is seeking a hands-on IT Systems Specialist to support employees at the corporate office and field staff across the country. You will help keep our Microsoft ecosystem secure and reliable while addressing hardware, software, and access issues.

You'll manage devices, administer Microsoft 365 and Entra ID, and maintain a small on-prem footprint with Windows Server and firewalls. Room to grow into cloud, automation, or software engineering.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years in an IT support or systems administration role in a Microsoft environment.
• Hands-on administration of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Working knowledge of Windows Server and networking basics (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).
• Strong communication skills with non-technical users.
• Associate's degree in a technical field or Bachelor's, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Support users: Resolve hardware, software, and access issues quickly; track recurring problems and fix root causes.
• Manage devices and endpoints: Provision, maintain, and decommission employee devices with security and policy compliance.
• Administer identity and access: Manage Microsoft 365 and Entra ID accounts, groups, licensing, and least-privilege access.
• Maintain infrastructure: Oversee on-prem Windows Server, SonicWall firewalls/VPN, switches, ISP equipment; coordinate licensing and refresh.
• Strengthen security: Implement security policies, maintain tools like ThreatLocker, respond to threats.
• Advise and document: Provide IT Director with system state recommendations; keep runbooks in Jira up to date.

Taher has fed communities for more than 40 years, and it's now building the technology to bring food service and nutrition into the future across the US. We're growing our IT team and looking for a hands-on IT Systems Specialist who enjoys solving problems for real people and keeping systems secure and reliable.

You'll be Taher's first point of contact for technical support and the day-to-day administrator of our systems, which are mostly in the Microsoft ecosystem. You'll support employees at our corporate office in person, and support our field staff at client sites across the country remotely. Clear, patient communication matters as much as technical skill in this job.

We'll train you where you need it. If you're interested, there's room to grow into cloud, automation, or software engineering.

What you'll do

• Support users: Resolve hardware, software, and access issues quickly. Track recurring problems and fix the root cause instead of just closing tickets.


• Manage devices and endpoints: Provision, maintain, and decommission employee devices. Keep endpoint security and policy compliance consistent.


• Administer identity and access: Manage Microsoft 365 and Entra ID accounts, groups, licensing, and least-privilege access.


• Maintain infrastructure: Look after our small on-prem footprint (Windows Server, SonicWall firewalls/VPN, switches, ISP equipment). Coordinate with vendors on licensing, renewals, and hardware refreshes.


• Strengthen security: Help put security policy in place, maintain tools like ThreatLocker, and respond to emerging threats.


• Advise and document: Give the IT Director recommendations on the state of our systems. Keep documentation and runbooks up to date in Jira.

What we're looking for

• 2--5 years in an IT support or systems administration role in a Microsoft environment


• Hands-on administration of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID (Azure AD)


• Working knowledge of Windows Server and networking basics (DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls)


• Strong communication skills with non-technical users


• Associate's degree in a technical field or Bachelor's, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

• CompTIA Network+ or Security+, or Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Associate (or willingness to earn one in your first year)


• Experience with SonicWall, ThreatLocker, or similar security tools


• Exposure to Azure, Microsoft SQL / ODBC, OpenText, Git/GitHub, or Jira


• Scripting with PowerShell
