Reporting to the Field IT Services Manager, you'll be the hands-on technical presence at customer sites, getting desktops, laptops, tablets, network gear, and specialized medical devices installed, connected, and running smoothly. This is a travel-heavy role for someone who's comfortable working independently, communicating clearly, and keeping customers confident throughout a deployment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver remote support for desktops, laptops, iPads, network equipment, and medical devices.
- Procure, install, and maintain peripheral equipment such as printers and scanners.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network, and system issues, working solo or alongside a team.
- Deploy and configure remote monitoring tools on workstations and servers.
- Provide open-call support and troubleshooting during site go-live events.
- Create user accounts and prepare workstations for new users.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to plan and coordinate equipment and network rollouts.
- Configure network equipment to meet customer requirements, with a solid understanding of network and data closet components.
- Complete L2/L3 testing before leaving each customer site.
- Keep customers informed with daily communication, follow up with users to confirm issues are resolved, and elevate urgent situations right away.
- Flag recurring problems to management.
- Maintain written process documentation, including a daily to-do list, and build out an internal knowledge base of technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies in a centralized documentation platform.
- Support project-based work and submit weekly and monthly project status reports to infrastructure leadership.
- Travel extensively, with a nonstandard workweek and occasional overtime (kept to a minimum), including some nights and weekends during peak activity.
Must-Haves
- 5+ years of related IT experience.
- Experience with high availability and distributed systems, Windows administration, troubleshooting, and support.
- Strong debugging skills across a variety of integrated platforms.
- Working knowledge of networking, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, load balancers, and IP routing.
- Proficiency with Windows 8 and newer, macOS, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace.
- Hands-on hardware experience with Macs, PCs, printers, scanners, and VoIP phones.
- Understanding of client connectivity, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, and VPN.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented, with strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel extensively and work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when needed.
- A valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and the ability to be insured.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with optical medical device equipment.
- Familiarity with remote monitoring tools and IT documentation platforms.
- Prior experience supporting site go-live or new-location rollouts.
