Job summary

Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES seeks an IT support technician to provide technical help for desktop and mobile devices, performing maintenance, installation, and problem resolution under supervision. The role supports Mt. Morris and Keshequa districts and involves related duties as required.

The incumbent will analyze issues, resolve hardware and software problems, and work under the direction of senior staff. This position is part of the district's technology services team.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Associate degree plus 12 college credits in CS/Engineering Tech.
• High school diploma with 2 years IT experience maintaining PCs or mobile devices.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for desktop and mobile device software and hardware.
• Maintain and install device software and hardware.
• Analyze and resolve problems under supervision.
• Perform related duties as required.

Education

Associate’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering Technology or a related field

Associate’s Degree + twelve (12) college credits in Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field

Job description

Job Description: This involves providing technical support,including maintenance and installation for desktop and mobile device software and hardware. The incumbent must analyze and resolve problems relating to the above statement. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher staff member. Supervision over the work of others is not a responsibility of this position. Does related work as required.

Note: This position will be supporting the following districts:Mt. Morris and Keshequa.

Minimum Qualifications:

EITHER:

1. Possession of an Associate’s Degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Engineering Technology or a related field; OR
2. Possession of an Associate’s Degree PLUS twelve (12) college credits in Computer Science, Engineering Technology, or a related field; OR
3. Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND two (2) years of full time paid experience, or its part-time equivalent, gained within the past five (5) years, which involved the operation and maintenance of personal computers or mobile devices AND the resolution of software and hardware problems pertaining to these devices; OR
4. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (1), (2) or (3) above.
