Summary
Are you the person everyone calls when their computer acts up, and do you actually enjoy fixing it? ForTheVeteran is looking for a responsive, dependable IT Support Specialist to be the first point of contact for our team's technology needs. You'll work help desk tickets, troubleshoot PC and desktop issues, and keep our fully remote team up and running so they can stay focused on serving veterans. This is an entry-level role for someone who takes ownership, communicates clearly, and follows every issue through to resolution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for employee technology requests, responding promptly through the help desk ticketing system, email, chat, and phone.
- Log, prioritize, track, and resolve support tickets, keeping employees updated on status and documenting each step through resolution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve PC and desktop hardware, software, operating system, and peripheral issues for remote employees, using remote support tools.
- Manage user account support, including password resets, access requests, and multi-factor authentication.
- Install, update, and patch software and applications to keep company devices secure and current.
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate resource while staying accountable for follow-up with the employee until the issue is resolved.

- Protect the confidentiality of company and veteran information by following security best practices and data-handling policies.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of company hardware, software licenses, and device assignments.
- Set up, configure, and deploy laptops and equipment for new hires, and recover and redeploy equipment from departing employees in coordination with HR.
- Own and run the company's PC imaging and rebuild process, including building and maintaining standard images, reimaging and rebuilding devices, and preparing equipment for redeployment.
- Open support requests with vendors and follow them to resolution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- This is an entry-level role. We value responsiveness, communication, and a willingness to learn as much as technical experience.
- Previous experience in help desk, IT support, desktop support, or a related technical role preferred; relevant coursework or certifications (such as CompTIA A+) are also considered.
- Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, PC hardware, and common business software such as Microsoft 365.
- Highly responsive, with a sense of urgency and consistent follow-through on every request.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and patiently to non-technical users.
- Accountable and dependable: you take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution.
- Trustworthy and discreet when handling sensitive company and veteran information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tickets and priorities at once.

- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
- Bonus: Hands‐on experience rebuilding PCs and with PC imaging and deployment tools (such as Microsoft Intune/Autopilot, MDT, SCCM, or similar).
- Bonus: Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems and remote support tools.
- Full-time, fully remote position
