TES Staffing is seeking an IT Support Engineer to own day‑to‑day IT operations for a Greenport, NY client. The role blends remote work with on‑site visits, handling escalated issues, managing endpoints, and ensuring reliable access to essential software and networks.
The ideal candidate has solid MSP experience, strong Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 skills, and is comfortable with user provisioning, AD/Entra ID, and basic networking. Travel to client sites is expected as needed.
$70,000 - $90,000/yr | Primarily Remote + Onsite Client Support | Full-Time
Location Requirement: Candidates must currently reside on Long Island and be able to reliably reach Greenport, NY, within approximately 60 minutes in normal weekday traffic.
We're looking for an experienced IT Support Engineer to take ownership of day-to-day IT operations and technical support for an established client in Greenport, NY. This is an opportunity for a technically capable professional who has progressed beyond entry-level help desk support and is ready to take on greater responsibility for troubleshooting, systems administration, and overall client technology needs.
In this role, you'll serve as the primary technical point of contact for the client's IT environment, handling escalated user issues, maintaining endpoint systems, troubleshooting connectivity and application problems, and ensuring employees have reliable access to the technology they need to work effectively.
The position is primarily remote, with onsite visits to the Greenport location as needed. You'll work independently on day-to-day technical challenges while collaborating with an experienced technical team in Albany for complex infrastructure issues, advanced troubleshooting, and project support.
Serve as the primary technical resource for day-to-day IT support, taking ownership of issues from initial diagnosis through resolution.
Troubleshoot escalated Tier 1 and Tier 2 issues involving Windows workstations, laptops, applications, user profiles, and system performance.
Diagnose and resolve Microsoft 365 issues, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, account access, and application configuration.
Investigate hardware, software, authentication, permissions, and connectivity issues, identifying root causes rather than relying solely on workarounds.
Troubleshoot network connectivity, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, printers, peripherals, and other endpoint-related issues.
Coordinate with senior technical resources when issues require deeper network, server, security, or infrastructure expertise.
Provision, configure, deploy, and maintain desktops, laptops, user accounts, and related IT equipment.
Assist with user onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, access changes, device configuration, and equipment preparation.
Support Active Directory and/or Microsoft Entra ID environments, including user administration, permissions, and access troubleshooting, as applicable.
Perform software installations, patching, updates, routine maintenance, and endpoint configuration.
Monitor recurring technical issues and help maintain the stability, security, and performance of the client's IT environment.
Maintain accurate system documentation, asset records, support procedures, and troubleshooting notes.
Act as a trusted technical partner to the client, developing an understanding of its systems, business needs, and day-to-day operations.
Manage support requests and service tickets, prioritizing issues according to business impact and urgency.
Communicate technical information clearly to nontechnical users and set appropriate expectations around resolution timelines.
Identify recurring issues, potential risks, and opportunities to improve the client's technology environment.
Recommend practical solutions that improve reliability, efficiency, and the overall user experience.
Travel to the Greenport client site when hands-on troubleshooting, equipment deployment, or other onsite assistance is required.
This is not an entry-level help desk position. We're seeking someone with the technical foundation and professional maturity to independently manage most day-to-day IT support needs within a client environment.
