Job summary

Florida Polytechnic University in Florida is seeking an IT Student Worker to provide Helpdesk and Desktop Support services. You will assist with creating new user accounts, installing Windows and macOS, and performing basic hardware checks.

The role may involve moving equipment around campus and working in dusty or cramped spaces. As a student worker, you will gain hands-on experience in hardware/software troubleshooting, documentation, and IT project tasks while maintaining professional conduct

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must not be under current disciplinary probation, suspension, or expulsion.
• Must have declared a degree program and majoring in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related major.
• Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.25 and have completed 9 credits with GPA 2.0 or better.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provides first-level support to staff on all computer-related software and hardware issues by triaging email and phone calls for service requests.
• Supports the functionality of university computers and peripherals through software installation and troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware.
• Perform computer imaging, staging and installation.
• Assist in the maintenance of IT standards and documentation.
• Under the guidance of IT staff, inventories technology equipment and software.
• Set up video conferencing sessions and other items.
• Tracks and completes preventative maintenance and tests.
• Provides testing and preventative maintenance services, tracks and documents the outcomes.
• Contributes to team effort by completing other assignments and serving on project teams as assigned.
