Job summary

Sedgwick is seeking an IT Software Development Specialist Sr to design, implement, test, and maintain software in a Windows client/server environment using PL/SQL, Oracle, Progress 4GL ADE, .Net and MS SQL.

You’ll work to understand end-user needs, translate them into specifications, code, debug, and document software while following quality standards and supporting enterprise applications for carriers and clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or Computer Science preferred.
  • 4–6 years of language development or equivalent experience.
  • Experience interpreting user requirements and designing business applications.
  • Strong knowledge of language development and applications design.

Responsibilities

  • Becomes familiar with most aspects of the application including reports, parameters, claims management and interfaces.
  • Analyzes user needs and assists in design of specifications to meet end user needs.
  • Develops and modifies software to meet data processing requests.
  • Develops and maintains software for carrier and regulatory requirements.
  • Tests and debugs assigned projects and assists others in testing.
  • Prepares documentation on new or existing software and investigates escalations.

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who thrive in a collaborative environment, who are driven to deliver results, are customer oriented and naturally empathetic.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES MAY INCLUDEBecomes familiar with most aspects of the application including reports, parameters, claims management, intake services, carrier/client interfaces and vendor/business partner interfacesAnalyzes user needs as required; assists in the design of specifications to meet end user needs.Develops and modifies software to meet the specifications outlined in data processing requests.Develops and maintains software to meet requirements of insurance carrier and regulatory groups.Tests and debugs assigned projects; assists in testing projects for other members of the programming staff.Prepares documentation on new or existing software.Investigates call escalations from the support staff; makes the necessary corrections to data and/or software.Assists in the professional growth of programmers.Follows departmental pre-established standards and guidelines as they pertain to design and development.Adheres to the goal of delivering and maintaining the highest quality of customer service to our clients.Keeps abreast of software development language revisions and technology advances.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
