Job summary

Nikon SLM Solutions in the United States is seeking an IT Senior Systems Engineer to administer and evolve the U.S. IT environment, aligning with global standards and security practices.

You will optimize infrastructure, automate with PowerShell, collaborate with Global IT and external providers, and ensure compliance with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, and ITAR.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of relevant IT systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or enterprise IT experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, and Windows environments.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud infrastructure.
• Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation for system administration.
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, network segmentation.
• Strong IT security fundamentals: IAM, endpoint security, secure configuration, access controls.
• Experience troubleshooting complex issues across systems, cloud, endpoints, identity, networking.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to collaborate with global IT teams and external providers.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and improve the U.S. IT infrastructure and services (Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, Azure, Windows, endpoint security, and XDR).
• Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure and security, and propose scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with Global IT and IT Security to align with global standards while addressing local requirements.
• Develop internal expertise to support Microsoft GCC High environment administration.
• Support cybersecurity and compliance requirements, including NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, CUI, ITAR.
• Coordinate and manage external IT and MSPs, including incidents, changes, and SLAs.
• Develop PowerShell scripts and automation to streamline administration.
• Support networking infrastructure (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, segmentation).
• Support IAM, endpoint security, secure configuration, and other cybersecurity controls with IT Security.
• Provide 2nd Level IT Support and assist with 1st Level as needed.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and coordinate resolutions across teams.
• Maintain accurate configurations, procedures, and documentation for audits and continuity.
• Participate in global IT projects and share best practices across regions.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The IT Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for the administration, engineering, security, and continuous improvement of Nikon SLM Solutions’ U.S. IT environment while contributing to global IT infrastructure and technology initiatives.

As the U.S. IT environment continues to develop and mature, this role will play an important part in shaping its future technical landscape. The ideal candidate will be comfortable both managing existing systems and identifying opportunities to improve infrastructure, security, automation, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Reporting to the CIO, this position will work closely with Global IT, IT Security, U.S. business stakeholders, and external service providers. The environment includes technologies such as Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, Azure, Windows, endpoint security/XDR, networking, and security infrastructure.

CANDIDATE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administer, maintain, and continuously improve the U.S. IT infrastructure and services, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune, Azure, Windows, endpoint security, and XDR technologies.
• Drive the technical development and maturation of the U.S. IT environment by identifying infrastructure and security improvement opportunities and recommending practical, scalable solutions.
• Collaborate with Global IT and IT Security teams to ensure U.S. systems and infrastructure align with global technology and security standards while addressing local business and regulatory requirements.
• Develop internal technical expertise to support the future administration and operation of the Microsoft GCC High environment, currently supported by an external service provider.
• Support cybersecurity and compliance requirements applicable to the U.S. organization, including NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), and ITAR-related requirements.
• Coordinate and technically manage external IT and managed service providers, including incidents, changes, technical deliverables, escalations, and service-level performance.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and automation to streamline system administration, improve consistency, and reduce manual operational processes.
• Support enterprise networking infrastructure, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, VPNs, firewalls, and network segmentation.
• Support identity and access management, endpoint security, secure system configuration, and other cybersecurity controls in coordination with IT Security.
• Provide 2nd Level IT Support as a primary responsibility while assisting with 1st Level support when business needs require.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, endpoint, identity, networking, and cloud-related issues and coordinate resolution across internal and external teams.
• Maintain accurate system configurations, procedures, technical documentation, and evidence required to support audits, compliance activities, and operational continuity.
• Participate in global IT projects and initiatives and identify solutions or best practices that can be leveraged across both the U.S. and global organization.

• Strong understanding of IT security fundamentals, including identity and access management, endpoint security, secure configuration, and access controls.
• Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues across systems, cloud, endpoints, identity, and networking.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to independently investigate issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Ability to effectively collaborate with global IT teams, IT Security, business stakeholders, and external service providers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft GCC High and/or Azure Government environments.
• Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC Level 2, CUI, ITAR, or other U.S. government cybersecurity and export‑control environments; deep compliance expertise is not required.
• Experience with endpoint detection and response/XDR technologies, including Taegis XDR.
• Experience coordinating or technically managing Managed Service Providers (MSPs) or other external IT service providers.
• Experience supporting IT environments within aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, government contracting, or another regulated industry.
• Experience working within an international or globally distributed IT organization.
