Job summary

Axios is seeking an IT Security Specialist to embed security across evaluation, procurement, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement. You will own Mac fleet security (Jamf), IAM (Okta), and SaaS security, while partnering with Legal, People and Infrastructure to improve provisioning and lifecycle management.

You will monitor across endpoints, browsers, and cloud apps to detect threats and reduce risk.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience in IT security, endpoint security, IAM, or systems administration.
• Hands-on experience with macOS, Jamf or comparable endpoints, CrowdStrike Falcon, Okta, and Google Workspace security.

Responsibilities

• Own security for Axios’ Mac fleet, including Jamf, compliance, monitoring, alert investigations, malware response, and device remediation.
• Own Okta-based identity and access management (adaptive MFA, SSO, user provisioning, access controls).
• Collaborate with People, Legal, and Infrastructure to improve provisioning, onboarding/offboarding, and lifecycle automation.
• Establish security configurations and risk controls for core services and SaaS applications (auth, access, email security, data protection, monitoring).
• Treat browser and SaaS layers as security boundaries and assess data access risks.
• Use logs and monitoring across endpoints, browsers, identity, Google Workspace, and SaaS apps to investigate activity and support incidents.
• Evaluate systems, tools, permissions, and workflows for security and operational fit.
• Protect high-risk users (journalists, executives) with privacy and data protection.
