Job summary

The City of Madison IT Department seeks a Project Manager to join the IT Project Portfolio Team. You will lead technology projects across portfolios, coordinating with agencies, sponsors, leadership, and IT staff to ensure informed decisions and successful outcomes.

You will manage project lifecycles, budgets, schedules, and documentation, applying agility and end-user focus to drive adoption and satisfaction. A strong emphasis on collaboration and communication is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of experience applying project management tools and techniques on large-scale projects.
• Ability to assess business needs and determine appropriate technology solutions.
• Two years of advanced IT Specialist experience or project management experience; Associate's or higher in CS or related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, quality, resources, communications, risks, and stakeholders.
• Manage full project lifecycle from requirements gathering through post-project evaluation.
• Track and report progress; identify variances and implement corrective actions to meet objectives.
• Coordinate with agencies, IT staff, and vendors to ensure adoption and minimal disruption.
• Oversee third-party software implementations, including RFPs and contract negotiations.
• Coordinate security best practices with vendors and staff to meet regulatory requirements.
