Job summary

The City of Madison is seeking a full-time IT Project Manager to lead a portfolio of technology projects within the IT Project Portfolio Team. This role focuses on strategic oversight of IT investments, coordinating across agencies, sponsors, leadership, and customers, and delivering efficient project outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will drive budgeting, planning, implementation, and documentation while maintaining strong user adoption and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience applying: Personal computer system technology (hardware and software) installation and/or troubleshooting.
• Experience with a wide range of software and hardware applications.
• Experience using project management tools on large-scale projects.
• Experience assessing business needs and determining appropriate technology solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive project plans covering scope, schedule, budget, quality, human resources, communications, risks, and impacted parties.
• Manage full project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, change management, testing, integration, implementation, and post-project evaluation.
• Track, review, and report project progress; identify variances and implement corrective actions to ensure project objectives are achieved.
• Identify project stakeholders and their needs, influence, and potential impact.
• Develop and implement communication strategies to keep all parties informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage organizational changes resulting from projects, ensuring adoption and minimal disruption to operations.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks; develop response strategies to minimize negative impacts.
• Ensure resources are allocated effectively and team interactions are productive.
