Job summary

Alaska Airlines is seeking a Buyer II to support the IT category with emphasis on cost containment, performance, and compliance with procurement agreements. The role involves developing procurement solutions and managing supplier relationships across Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.

As an individual contributor, you will ensure timely acquisition of goods and services, meet end-user requirements, and drive cost effectiveness.

Qualifications

• 2 years of procurement experience or a related area.
• Bachelor's degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
• Ability to conduct research and perform financial analyses, including cost and benefit evaluations.
• Ability to develop and manage pricing agreements.
• Ability to build strong customer and supplier relationships.
• Demonstrated change management, leadership, and presentation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the business.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum age of 18.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Takes initiative to develop solutions to procurement activities.
• Makes recommendations to improve supplier relations and internal team processes to meet customer requirements and achieve cost effectiveness.
• Manages the timely acquisition of goods and services to meet end user requirements.
• With limited direction from the manager, works independently to manage day-to-day supplier interactions and transactions.
• Develops positive, collaborative internal and supplier relationships.
• Monitors supplier performance and collaborates with strategic sourcing and internal customers to identify opportunities for improvement.
