Job summary

The Park District of Highland Park seeks an IT Operations Manager to ensure a reliable end-user technology experience and to oversee project planning and execution. This non-technical role coordinates with our IT MSP, ensures timely issue resolution, and reports to the Director of Planning, Projects and IT.

The position supervises two staff members, drives standard IT practices, and maintains accountability for service quality and user satisfaction across the district.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 7+ years of experience or equivalent.
• Experience with helpdesk/support workflows.
• Project management experience.
• Knowledge of workplace technology systems, protocols and standards.
• Experience with Managed Services Providers, Camera Systems, Access Control Systems, Singlewire, Informacast, Vermont Systems, and Tyler Technologies preferred.
• Related professional certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day liaison with the IT Managed Service Provider and participate in regular service reviews.
• Collaborate on rollout of tools, policies, and improvements to drive consistency in technology use.
• Act as the internal owner of the IT support experience and monitor helpdesk activity and response.
• Oversee technology improvement projects with the MSP, directing staff and contractors and tracking costs.
• Research, evaluate, and manage software and services to support infrastructure improvements.
• Plan, purchase, install, and maintain technology hardware and systems across the district.
• Develop and administer technology budgets and standards.
• Ensure audio/video tech works for board meetings and events.
• Coordinate third-party vendors and manage vendor accounts.
• Contribute to information security policies and training plans.
• Maintain regular communications with executives and end users about infrastructure activities.
