Job summary

State of South Carolina's Department of Employment and Workforce seeks a System Administrator in the IT Operations - Infrastructure team in Columbia. Under limited supervision, you will administer, configure, and install server environments to support application processing and provide technical help to end users.

You will document system configurations, monitor and optimize performance, and coordinate with vendors and staff to ensure a stable, highly available data center.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with related IT experience.
• Bachelor's degree in IT or CS preferred.
• Moderate knowledge of IT infrastructure concepts.
• Ability to document and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Self-sufficiently manage installation, operation, and configuration of servers.
• Install, configure, and support server software, OS, hardware, and storage infrastructure.
• Evaluate, monitor, troubleshoot, optimize, and provide recommendations for a stable environment.
• Maintain knowledge of current technologies affecting server infrastructure and agency operations.
• Document all system aspects and transfer knowledge to the team.
• Adhere to change control, quality control, and documentation procedures.
• Collaborate with users, vendors, tech professionals, and staff for problem resolution.
• Train and coordinate a small team of personnel.
• Present technical and non-technical reports clearly and concisely.
• Establish working relationships with vendors, management, and users.
