Job summary

Evertec in Puerto Rico seeks an IT & Operations Audit Expert to lead risk assessments and design the annual IT & Operations audit plan. The role focuses on evaluating controls, communicating risks to leadership, and driving improvements across technology and operations.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of IT auditing experience, knowledge of SOX, and strong stakeholder communication skills. Travel to regional projects may be required; CISA is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • At least 7 years of IT auditing experience.
  • Experience in IT, operations, or related business environments.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and information security controls.
  • Experience auditing SOX regulatory framework.

Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive assessment of technology and operational risks, identifying control gaps and improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate risks, trends, and opportunities to business leaders.
  • Design, develop, and execute the annual IT & Operations audit plan.
  • Define audit scope, objectives, and methodology for risk-based coverage.
  • Evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of IT & Operations controls, including SOX.
  • Collaborate with process owners to implement and follow up corrective actions.
  • Prepare audit reports with findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and best practices.
  • Manage deviations, exceptions, and escalations related to internal controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement in audit methodologies, tools, and practices.

Your responsibilities as an IT & Operations Audit Expert will be:

  • Lead the comprehensive assessment of technology and operational risks, ensuring timely identification of control gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Act as a strategic advisor by communicating risks, trends, and opportunities related to IT & Operations to business leaders.
  • Design, develop, and execute the annual IT & Operations audit plan, aligned with organizational priorities and risk profile.
  • Define audit scope, objectives, and methodology, ensuring efficient, risk-based coverage of technology and operational processes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of IT & Operations controls, including regulatory frameworks such as SOX.
  • Collaborate with process owners to ensure the implementation and follow-up of corrective action plans.
  • Lead the preparation of audit reports, including findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and best practices applicable to IT & Operations.
  • Manage deviations, exceptions, and escalations related to internal controls, ensuring proper documentation and communication.
  • Drive continuous improvement in audit methodologies, tools, and practices.
In addition, you can make a difference if you meet:
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent professional title in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • At least (7) years of experience in IT auditing.
  • Additional experience in IT, operations, or related business environments.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, systems, and information security controls.
  • Experience auditing regulatory frameworks such as SOX.
  • Ability to design and execute audit plans and risk assessments.
  • Strong skills in audit reporting, follow-up, and stakeholder communication.
  • CISA certification is preferred.

Work hours

Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Available to work extended hours, weekends, and/or holidays as needed and the availability to travel as required to support projects in the region.
