Job summary

This mid-level position reports to the Assistant Director, Network Engineering, within the Division of Information Technology (DIT) at the University of Maryland, College Park, and performs in several key areas: - In collaboration with others, plan, design, and implement wired and wireless network infrastructure improvements and new capabilities. This may include stakeholder meetings, requirements identification, team formation and teamwork as appropriate, and coordination of the workstreams. - In collaboration with others, design, develop, and support the wired and wireless network infrastructure. This may involve entire life cycle management and support of network entities such as copper and fiber infrastructure, routers and switches, traffic shapers, VPN systems, firewalls, IPS systems, load balancers, VoIP infrastructure, wireless infrastructure, and monitoring and alerting infrastructure. - In collaboration with others, ensure that network documentation, including design documents, purpose statements, stakeholder requirements, test and support plans, as-built diagrams and specifications, as well as run books, are up-to-date. - Present and communicate technical design and training topics to medium-sized audiences of mixed levels of technical savvy.
