Position Summary

The Digital Workplace Manager is responsible for the strategy and staff that deliver digital workplace applications and services supporting the digital employee experience (DEX). This role is accountable for all digital workplace functions, including operations, governance, enablement, and engineering. The Digital Workplace Manager drives the adoption of digital workplace technologies, including AI, collaboration, knowledge management and productivity tools, to enhance workforce digital dexterity and productivity. They manage workplace enablement processes and lead a cross-functional team to ensure employees have the motivation, permission, and knowledge to fully utilize workplace and employee technology. Additionally, this role collaborates closely with shared services partners, such as HR, corporate communications, line of business leaders, IT business partners, technology vendors, and the service desk.

Accountable for business results primarily achieved through the work of others. Manages staff, sets direction, and deploys resources. Has responsibility for employee development, performance reviews, pay reviews, and staffing decisions. Accountable for business, functional or operational areas, processes, or programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transforms the day-to-day operations with a shift left and automation mindset. Works with a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure assignments are completed in accordance with established guidelines and advice on conflicting priorities.
  • Understands the overall organizational vision and collaborates with management to set team goals that translate into actionable plans at the team level.
  • Maintains a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement and leads the team through periods of change and transformation.
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to identify technology needs and opportunities and works with internal IT groups to provide effective solutions to address business needs. Develops continuous improvement techniques.
  • Ensures the availability, reliability, and security of technology systems, implementing appropriate measures to protect sensitive information and prevent disruptions.
  • Plans, resources, and provides direction and technical leadership for low- to medium-complexity IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Manages the department project portfolio effectively through governance and planning processes.
  • Assists in the development and management of the department budget, tracking expenses, and ensures that resources are allocated effectively to meet business requirements.
  • Stays abreast of the latest technology trends, industry advancements, and regulatory changes, and makes recommendations for adopting new technologies to improve operational efficiency.
  • Assesses and identifies technology needs and opportunities, making recommendations for system enhancements, upgrades, or replacements. Continuously seeks opportunities to optimize processes and workflows.
  • Partners with leadership to develop strong business cases for technology initiatives.
  • Assists in the development of IT policies, procedures, and standards that are in line with area of responsibility and industry standards. Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Responsible for recruitment, development, retention, performance management of talent to meet needs of the business.
  • Utilizes a data-driven approach to analyze and enhance the complex relationships between technology investments, employee experience and business outcomes.
  • Advocates for the user perspective by incorporating journey mapping and facilitating design thinking sessions with their team members.
  • Leads the personal productivity AI functions in collaboration with the analytics team and AI Governance Board.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other computer-related degree required.
  • 10+ years of diversified IT experience required.
  • 3+ years of experience directly leading professional staff required.
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of digital workplace applications required.
  • Experience with vendor governance, including demonstrated success in conducting RFPs and vendor service transitions required.
  • Experience with generative AI capabilities to transform the workforce technology experience preferred.
  • Experience in creating a lean business case to ensure support from executives and business partners preferred.
