Job summary

The City of Woodstock IT Department is seeking an Information Technology Manager to lead a small but critical team and drive strategic technology initiatives.

You will oversee servers, storage, virtualization, and cloud services, while managing a part-time staff and ensuring excellent customer service and support. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and leadership in Woodstock, Illinois.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS/MIS/Cybersecurity or related field with 3+ years of progressive IT experience.
• Experience with Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, networking, virtualization, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
• Professional customer service and technical support experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the IT Director in planning, implementing, and maintaining technology infrastructure and initiatives.

• Oversee daily activities of part-time IT staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, training, and mentoring.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: As outlined within the attached Job Description:

• Assists the Information Technology Director in planning, implementing, and maintaining the City’s technology infrastructure and strategic technology initiatives.
• Manages the administration, maintenance, and security of servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud services.
• Oversee the daily activities and responsibilities of part-time Information Technology Department staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, training, and mentoring.
• Oversee the City’s Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), licensing, and related cloud technologies.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, MIS, Cybersecurity, or related field with at least three years of progressively responsible IT experience including supervisory responsibilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, networking, virtualization, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
• Professional customer service and technical support experience.

Salary & Benefits:

Hiring range is $82 to $90,000 DOQ. Additionally, an excellent benefits package is provided including available group health insurance and Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension.
