Job summary

The Urbana Free Library invites you to apply for the full-time Information Technology Manager role. You will lead IT strategy, oversee all IT systems, and supervise staff to ensure reliable, secure library technology services.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and have multiple years administering Windows-based networks. Public library environment experience is a plus and prior vendor coordination is beneficial.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems or related field.
• 3+ years administering computers and computer networks in an enterprise Windows environment (5 years preferred).
• Experience managing MS Office 365.
• At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
• IT certifications in ITIL, project management, or technical training.
• Experience with database systems management, CMS administration, programming, and library automation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operation and management of IT-supported systems, applications and services within the Library.
• Provide vision and leadership for IT strategies and initiatives.
• Supervise the Library’s IT staff.
• Lead vendor liaison for the Library’s integrated library system and security software.
• Plan and prepare technology budgets and track expenses.
• Revise technology-related plans and policies.
• Manage network security systems and PCI compliance.

The Urbana Free Library is seeking a forward-thinking, self-motivated individual to join the Library’s leadership team. Duties include overseeing the operation and management of all information technology-supported systems, applications, and services within the Library; providing vision and leadership for the development and implementation of IT strategies and initiatives; and supervising the Library’s IT staff. The ideal candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related field or equivalent work experience and at least three years progressively responsible work experience with administering computers and computer networks in an enterprise Windows environment. Required qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that can be demonstrated to provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position.
• Three years progressively responsible work experience with administering computers and computer networks in an enterprise Windows environment. Five years preferred.
