The City of Woodstock IT Department is seeking an Information Technology Manager to assist the IT Director in planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising daily operations of the IT Department in Woodstock, IL.

The role oversees part-time and seasonal staff, manages technology infrastructure and security, and coordinates IT projects to ensure reliable operation of the City's technology environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, MIS, cybersecurity, or related field with at least three years of progressively responsible IT experience including supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, networking, virtualization, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
• Professional customer service and technical support experience.

Responsibilities

• Assists the IT Director in planning, implementing, and maintaining the City's technology infrastructure and strategic technology initiatives.
• Oversee servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud services, including security.
• Supervise part-time staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, training, and mentoring.
• Oversee the City's Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID) and related cloud technologies.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Information Technology Director in planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the daily operations of the Information Technology Department. The Information Technology Manager oversees part time, limited part time, and seasonal technical staff, manages technology infrastructure and security, coordinates information technology projects, maintains critical business systems, and ensures the reliable operation of the City's technology environment. The work is performed under the supervision of the Information Technology Director.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists the Information Technology Director in planning, implementing, and maintaining the City's technology infrastructure and strategic technology initiatives.
• Manages the administration, maintenance, and security of servers, storage systems, virtualization platforms, and cloud services.
• Oversee the daily activities and responsibilities of part-time Information Technology Department staff, including performance evaluations, scheduling, training, and mentoring.
• Oversee the City's Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), licensing, and related cloud technologies.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, MIS, Cybersecurity, or related field with at least three years of progressively responsible IT experience including supervisory responsibilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, networking, virtualization, cybersecurity, and enterprise systems.
• Professional customer service and technical support experience.

Salary & Benefits:

Hiring range is $82 to $90,000 DOQ. Additionally, an excellent benefits package is provided including available group health insurance and Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) pension.
