Job summary
HMH in Houston, TX offers an IT Intern role that provides hands-on experience across hardware, software, and cloud administration. You will assist with installations, network setup, Azure account management, and evaluating new software solutions within a global drilling solutions company.
You’ll learn incident management, Azure cloud operations, security basics, and IT project workflows while contributing to documentation, inventory, and IT operations in a mentoring environment.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a Bachelor's or graduate degree in IT/CS or related field.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Strong interest in technology and a desire to learn and grow in IT.
- Basic knowledge of IT hardware, software, cloud, AI, and networking concepts.
- Familiar with Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and Office 365 suite.
- Proficient in Excel; knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
- Excellent written and spoken communication; able to work independently and in a team.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems
- Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of computer networks, including routers, switches, and firewalls
- Assist with account and access administration directly and via the Azure cloud
- Participate in the development, testing and evaluation of new software applications and systems
- Help maintain inventory of IT equipment and software licenses
- Assist in the documentation of IT processes and procedures
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in information technology
- Learn about Incident Management and end user support
- Cloud administration via Microsoft Azure (Entra, Intune, Autopilot, etc.)

The IT Intern will be responsible for:

The Intern will also learn about the following:

- Must be enrolled when the internship commences and working toward completion of Bachelor or Graduate degree from an accredited university or college in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Strong interest in technology and a desire to learn and grow in the IT field
- Basic knowledge of IT hardware, software, cloud, AI, and networking concepts
- Familiarity Microsoft 365 – Windows 10/11 and full MS Office 365 suite
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills using tools such as Excel and PowerBi
- Strong written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks
- Professionalism and a strong work ethic
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, now or in the future, without employer sponsorship for employment visa status.
