Job summary

The City of Wheat Ridge seeks an IT Infrastructure Supervisor to lead the infrastructure team, ensuring stable operation of servers, SaaS, networks, and telecom systems. You will design, plan, and optimize core IT services while guiding procurement and change management.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, setting standards, coordinating with executives, and driving continuous improvement. This on-site role supports city operations from City Hall.

Qualifications

• Five years' experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
• Exceptional knowledge of service and application delivery and SLA accomplishments.
• Minimum two years experience managing an infrastructure team.
• Hands-on troubleshooting of software and hardware.
• Knowledge of best practices including Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Azure, backups, and desktop support.
• Certifications in ITIL, Project Management, Microsoft systems, cybersecurity preferred
• Public sector experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
• Help develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training plans for infrastructure team members and project management.
• Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the IT executive team.
• Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.
• Ensure changes are documented and change management processes are followed
• Fill in for IT Manager when needed
• Manage vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services. Oversee projects and vendors while work is in progress
• Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures.
• Supervise and provide support for system administrators, desktop technicians, and service desk; conduct performance reviews and corrective action.
• Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with system owners and stakeholders.
• Test server performance and provide network performance statistics and reports; develop strategies for maintaining server infrastructure.
• Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the IT executives, decision-makers, stakeholders, department heads, and end users regarding changes and pertinent infrastructure activities.
• Practice IT asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation.
• Ensure quality user experiences for staff, residents, and partners.
• Provide Tier 4 customer support as needed, including monitoring the ticket queue and resolving incidents.
• Maintain a practice of continuous improvement.
