Job summary

The Department of Biochemistry IT team at the University of Utah is seeking an IT Helpdesk Technician to support faculty, students, and staff. This role provides first-line technical assistance for a wide range of devices and services, using university-provided solutions and specialized software to enable research and learning.

You will create and track help desk tickets, install and support software/hardware, manage assets, and assist with access provisioning.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with Windows and macOS troubleshooting.
• Experience with common ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc).
• Basic command-line knowledge (cmd, PowerShell, Bash).

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level IT support for desktop, laptop, and network issues.
• Create and track help desk tickets to ensure timely resolution.
• Install and support licensed and internal software/hardware.
• Track IT assets (hardware and software).
• Assist with provisioning/deprovisioning user access and accounts.
• Maintain printers and coordinate service repairs.
• Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and monitors.
• Escalate issues to Tier 2 or management when needed.
