Job Overview
As a Help Desk Technician at Speedway Motors, you will serve as the first point of contact for Tier 1 technical support, providing assistance for a wide range of hardware and software issues submitted through our Help Desk system. In this vital frontline role, you’ll apply your diagnostic skills and technical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve user concerns efficiently and effectively.
You will also collaborate closely with other members of the IT team, escalating more complex issues as appropriate. In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, you’ll contribute to ongoing process improvements and foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture across the organization.
Here Are The Specifics
- Manage Help Desk tickets in a timely manner.
- Respond to customer issues Help Desk tickets and chat.
- Perform troubleshooting using different diagnostic techniques.
- Offer technical assistance on the delivery, configuration, set up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer systems, hardware, and software.
- Perform onboarding and offboarding tasks.
- Keep record of problems and their resolution.
- Escalate issues to the next Tier with next level of difficulty.
- Install, make changes, and repair computer hardware and software.
- Take action in accordance with the technical guidelines provided by the IT Management.
- Follow-up with customers to ensure issues are resolved.
- Provide technical support 24-7 on a rotating basis.
- Constantly work to improve processes; make suggestions for productivity improvements, and optimize workflow, while continuing to meet our customers’ needs.
- Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on commitments.

Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment with climate control (air conditioning and heating).
- Regular use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and filing cabinets.
- Frequent sitting for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
- Occasional lifting of items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Regular walking and standing throughout the workday.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, reaching, twisting, kneeling, squatting, or working at or above shoulder height.
- Ability to perform fine motor tasks involving pinching, grasping, and manipulating small components in confined spaces.
- Ability to maintain focus and productivity in an environment with occasional background noise.
- Periodic exposure to dust and typical office noise levels.
What You’ll Need To Succeed In This Position
- Associate’s degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of one year of relevant experience. OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Team player. Must be able to work efficiently as a Member of the Speedway IT Team and contribute to the IT Team goals and missions.
- Excellent customer service skills. Ability to interface with customers at all levels.
- Strong technical written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language and communicate effectively with others.
- Must be able to follow established safety procedures.
- Willingness to learn and use new software and systems.
