Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital seeks an experienced Epic Applications Analyst to support assigned Epic modules, troubleshoot issues, and implement system enhancements in alignment with clinical and administrative workflows.

You will collaborate with Epic representatives and operational leaders, perform configuration, testing, upgrades, and integrations, mentor teammates, and contribute to continuous process improvements using data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; substitute with Associate's degree plus two years related experience or a high school diploma/GED with four additional years of related experience may substitute for the bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of one year of experience supporting or implementing Epic applications, including application configuration, template management, or system build. Additional experience in application support, operational analysis, user consultation, presentations, and end-user training is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter resource for Epic applications and related operational workflows.
  • Partner with end users to gather requirements, analyze business processes, identify root causes, and recommend system solutions.
  • Scope requests, estimate work effort, and support projects from design through implementation while collaborating with Epic representatives, technical teams, and operational leaders.
  • Analyze and resolve moderately complex support tickets, identify enhancement opportunities, and troubleshoot application issues.
  • Independently perform Epic configuration and build activities, including rules, templates, security, and workflow modifications, while following change management and documentation standards.
  • Conduct unit testing, coordinate quality assurance testing, document build decisions, and support build migrations between environments.
  • Assist with Epic upgrades by reviewing release notes, developing test plans, executing testing, and implementing required changes.
  • Coordinate and support integrations with third-party applications, interfaces, devices, and vendors.
  • Communicate project status, milestones, risks, and solutions with leadership, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Build relationships with super users, provide user support and training, facilitate meetings, and present information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Mentor less experienced team members and provide technical guidance on build, testing, and workflow optimization.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, Epic forums, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

  • Understanding of healthcare operations such as scheduling, registration, billing, revenue cycle, or clinical workflows.

  • Ability to identify root causes and develop practical, data-driven solutions.

  • Knowledge of project management principles and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

Education
