Job summary

University of Kansas IT Enterprise Systems seeks an IT Engineer to coordinate administration of Linux and Windows based applications and web sites on campus servers. You will support enterprise applications, monitor performance, and ensure security updates are applied, working closely with DBAs, customers, and vendors.

The role includes on-call rotation, collaboration across teams, and driving process improvements to enhance reliability and user experience.

Qualifications

• Five years of relevant professional experience or an Associate's degree plus three years of relevant professional experience or a Bachelor's degree in a technology related field with one year of experience.
• Three years' experience in administering web technologies such as IIS and Java web application servers (e.g., Apache Tomcat).
• Three years' experience administering applications on Linux and Windows Server 2016 and above.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support enterprise applications and services running on Linux and Windows server platforms.
• Monitor application performance, availability, and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues with customers, infrastructure teams, DBAs, and vendors.
• Ensure security patches and updates are evaluated and applied in a timely manner.
• Maintain system documentation, procedures, and operational standards.
• Coordinate application administration with IT Enterprise Systems staff.
• Install, configure, test, document, and support software applications used across computing environments.
• Implement and maintain secure application configurations per university policies and best practices.
• Participate in application upgrades, migrations, and maintenance.
• Develop and maintain scripts, automation tools, Ansible playbooks, and other solutions to improve efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to automate routine administration and maintenance tasks.
