Job summary

Knight Automotive Group seeks an IT Director to lead technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT strategy across our dealership network. You will build a strong internal IT function and partner with leadership to align technology with business goals.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in IT with leadership, deep network/security expertise, hands-on problem solving, and experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Azure, and dealer systems.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive IT experience with leadership experience
  • Multi-location IT experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead IT infrastructure across multiple dealership locations (networks, servers, firewalls, wireless, VOIP, cloud)
  • Oversee cybersecurity, backups, disaster recovery, and identity/access management
  • Manage Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, and security policies
  • Oversee DMS, CRM tools, OEM integrations, and dealership tech
  • Lead technology projects, upgrades, and vendor contracts/expenses
  • Develop IT policies, docs, and business continuity plans
  • Mentor internal IT staff and collaborate with leadership on tech strategy

This role will take ownership of the company’s higher-level technology needs while building a strong internal IT function and reducing reliance on outsourced IT providers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on, solutions-oriented leader with strong technical expertise who can manage complex IT systems while developing a secure, reliable, and scalable technology environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage IT infrastructure across multiple dealership locations, including networks, servers, firewalls, wireless systems, phone systems, and cloud environments.Oversee cybersecurity, including endpoint protection, email security, identity and access management, MFA, vulnerability management, backups, and disaster recovery.Manage Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, user permissions, security policies, and other company-wide technology platforms.Oversee dealership management systems, CRM tools, OEM integrations, and other dealership-specific technology.Design, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, VPNs, VLANs, and internet connectivity.Lead technology projects, upgrades, system implementations, and infrastructure needs for new dealerships, acquisitions, and facility expansions.Manage technology vendors, software providers, telecommunications companies, licensing, and IT-related contracts and expenses.Develop and maintain IT policies, procedures, security standards, system documentation, and business continuity plans.Lead and support internal IT staff responsible for day-to-day employee support, workstation setup, hardware, software, and other routine technology needs.Partner with company leadership to identify technology solutions that improve productivity, reduce costs, strengthen security, and support future growth.Uphold Knight Automotive Group’s Core Values — accountability, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement — in all work and decision-making.What We OfferCompetitive and performance-driven pay structureHealth, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance401(k) retirement planPaid time off (PTO), holidays, bereavement, maternity/paternity leaveEmployee discounts on vehicles, parts, and servicePaid online and offsite hands-on training for continued professional developmentOpportunities for career advancement within a growing, family-owned automotive groupA supportive, family-oriented culture built on teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvementQualifications8+ years of progressive IT experience, including 3+ years in an IT leadership or senior infrastructure role; multi-location experience strongly preferred.Strong expertise in network architecture and administration, including firewalls, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, VLANs, and network security.Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, endpoint security, identity and access management, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.Advanced experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory/Entra ID, Azure, and cloud-based applications.Experience managing servers, networks, telecommunications, and other business-critical IT infrastructure.Demonstrated ability to lead major technology projects and independently troubleshoot complex technical issues.Experience managing IT vendors, technology contracts, licensing, budgets, and third-party service providers.Ability to balance hands-on technical work with IT strategy, leadership, and long-term planning.Excellent leadership, project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.Automotive dealership technology experience, including Dealertrack, CDK, or similar systems, is a plus.Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.Industry certifications in networking, cybersecurity, Microsoft, Cisco, or related technologies are a plus.
