Job description

Serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC) supporting the Director of Submarine Programs by managing cyber risk and guiding risk-based cybersecurity authorization decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) within the Director of Submarine Programs.
  • Implement and oversee cyber risk across the Director of Submarine Programs portfolio.
  • Act as the primary authority for risk-based decisions impacting the overall integrity of the cybersecurity authorization process for systems under DSP purview.
  • Balance operational speed with the technical rigor needed for a robust and defensible cybersecurity posture.
  • Represent command risk tolerance and provide strategic direction for the Risk Management Framework process.
  • Ensure assessments are completed in a standardized, compliant, and effective manner.
  • Execute delegate authority to conduct in-depth technical risk assessments within assigned cybersecurity domains.
Requirements
  • US Citizen (U.S. Citizens/retained allegiance categories apply as stated; clarification from the agency: U.S. Citizens).
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
  • New Department of the Navy employees must successfully pass an E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Retired military appointments within 180 days following retirement to a civilian position are subject to 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty (security clearance requirement listed as Top Secret).
  • Cyberspace Workforce position: work role code SECURITY CYBER ASSESOR, proficiency level A; obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of the Navy policies.
  • DAWIA-covered role: certification in the assigned Acquisition Functional Area and category required within established category timeframes.
  • Pre-employment drug test required (including marijuana); subject to random testing.
  • Travel may be required from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites; must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
  • Resume must show at least 1 year of specialized experience at or equivalent to NH-03 (GS-13 equivalency) in the Federal service, or equivalent private/public sector experience.
  • Experience must reflect skill in: attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
  • Demonstrated skill in executing and implementing risk assessment procedures within cybersecurity programs/projects to mitigate system vulnerabilities and support compliance for cybersecurity authorization integrity.
