Job summary

EWASTE+ is seeking an IT Asset Processing Technician for our Scotia, NY facility. This hands-on role combines secure data destruction, asset processing, diagnostic testing, and customer service. Up to 20% travel to client sites in the Capital Region is expected.

The ideal candidate will be technically adept with hardware, have experience with desktops, laptops, servers, networking gear, and have familiarity with HDDs/SSDs. No degree required; training provided.

Qualifications

Strong technical aptitude and the ability to learn new technology and software.
Experience with desktops, laptops, servers, networking equipment and electronic hardware.
Working knowledge of computer hardware, networking fundamentals and common IT equipment.
Ability to identify computer components and understand hardware specifications.
Experience performing diagnostic testing and hardware troubleshooting to identify faulty components.
Familiarity with HDDs and SSDs.

Responsibilities

Perform secure data sanitization on hard drives, SSDs and other devices using approved software.
Accurately serialize and document electronic assets with chain‑of‑custody records.
Process assets and perform secure data destruction at the Scotia facility.
Conduct diagnostic tests and basic hardware troubleshooting to verify device functionality.
Identify and document hardware specifications and configurations.
Travel to customer locations up to 20% of the week for on‑site services.
Maintain inventory accuracy and asset tracking throughout processing.
Represent EWASTE+ professionally while interacting with customers.
Follow all safety, security and compliance procedures.
