Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced IT Asset Lifecycle Management Specialist to own the end-to-end lifecycle of IT devices and peripherals, ensuring accurate inventory and real-time updates in ServiceNow, across Stamford, CT or Alpharetta, GA.

The role requires 6+ years of ITAM/HAM experience, strong auditing and reporting skills, and the ability to coordinate asset allocation, returns, and renewals while aligning with governance and cost-optimization goals.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end lifecycle of IT devices and peripherals (excluding U.S. mobile devices).
• Maintain centralized inventory database with accurate tracking from creation to disposal.
• Coordinate asset dispatch and return for onboarding/offboarding.
• Monitor lease terms, renewals, returns, and replacements.
• Review and approve service requests related to HAM processes.
• Track mobile device lifecycle from procurement to retirement.
• Prepare reports on inventory, shipments, asset utilization and KPIs.

IT Asset Lifecycle Management Specialist

Location: Position can be fulfilled in Stamford CT or Alpharetta GA

We are seeking an experienced IT Asset Lifecycle Management Specialist to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of IT devices and peripherals. The role will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, coordinating asset allocation and returns, managing hardware asset management requests, supporting audits, and ensuring real-time asset updates in ServiceNow.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in IT Asset Management (ITAM), Hardware Asset Management (HAM), asset lifecycle processes, inventory reconciliation, and ServiceNow.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of all IT devices and peripherals, excluding U.S. mobile devices.
• Maintain a centralized inventory database and ensure accurate tracking of assets from creation and shipment through allocation, return, and disposal.
• Coordinate the dispatch and return of assets for employee onboarding and offboarding.
• Monitor asset lifecycle management processes, including lease terms, renewals, returns, and replacements.
• Manage device refresh activities, monitor asset return status, and follow up on pending returns.
• Review, validate, and approve service requests related to Hardware Asset Management processes.
• Maintain and execute the asset allocation process, ensuring all necessary approvals are obtained before fulfillment.
• Track and manage mobile devices, including iPhones and iPads, from procurement through retirement.
• Maintain a centralized inventory database for serialized peripherals.
• Perform regular reconciliation of asset records against physical inventory and discovery reports.
• Conduct biannual inventory audits with a focus on accuracy and resolution of ghost, missing, or untracked assets.
• Prepare reports related to inventory, shipments, asset utilization, aging, compliance, and operational performance.
• Monitor and maintain defined KPIs across all asset management processes.
• Ensure asset statuses are updated accurately and in real time within ServiceNow.
• Identify cost optimization opportunities to prevent cost overruns, excess inventory, and asset underutilization.
• Proactively identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
• Establish timelines for clearing operational backlogs and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with customer IT Asset Management policies, standards, and governance requirements.

The annual salary for this position is between $75,000- $92,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and is subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
