Job summary

Apex Technology, Inc. in Los Angeles is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to ensure secure, documented systems ready for customer or third-party review.

You will work with system owners, IT, engineering, the SOC, and the Cybersecurity Lead to implement security requirements with evidence that holds up under review. The primary focus is NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC Level 2, supported by ATO activities, SOC 2 Type II, ISO-aligned compliance work, and other customer security

Qualifications

• 3+ years as ISSO or similar security role.
• Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC Level 2.
• Experience maintaining system security documentation and audits.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the security point of contact for operations and keep teams informed on cyber posture.
• Assess requirements, risk findings, and due dates with Cybersecurity team.
• Maintain SSP, system inventory, policies, procedures, and evidence for CUI environment.
• Track NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC Level 2 implementation at artifact level.
• Support ATO and RMF activities including creating/updating security documentation and POA&Ms.
• Validate evidence from cybersecurity tools (CrowdStrike, Palo Alto, Tenable, Jira).
• Lead remediation with owners and ensure clear ownership and target dates.
• Lead security reviews on privileged accounts, terminated users, vulnerabilities, and security requests.
