Job summary

KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is seeking an In‑School Suspension (ISS) Coordinator for KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy K-8 in Jacksonville, FL. The role supervises students in a classroom setting to support completing academic work and reflections, while collaborating with staff to uphold a restorative, welcoming environment.

Typical duties include structuring ISS referrals, supporting behavior intervention plans, communicating with families, and tracking referrals.

Qualifications

At least one year in an urban education setting as a full-time professional with evidence of working with students in small groups or whole groups.
Associate’s degree or at least 60 hours of continuing education documented
Commitment to racial and educational equity for all children
Background check as required by law.

Responsibilities

Create a structured environment when students are referred to ISS
Help support behaviour intervention plans for students, including documentation, de-escalating student behaviour, family communication, staff check-ins, etc.
Communicate with families about student progress
Support tracking referral data
If no students are in ISS, help out in the school community as dictated by the school administration team
