Job summary

Fort Madison Community School District is seeking an In-School Suspension Supervisor to support a structured learning environment for students on ISS. You will supervise during suspension periods, enforce rules, and help students stay engaged with classwork.

You will work with administrators, teachers and support staff to ensure students complete assignments, reflect on behavior, and prepare to return to regular classes. A firm, fair, and respectful approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in supervising students in an educational setting.
• Ability to manage behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Experience documenting attendance, behavior and work completion.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and supervise students in ISS, ensuring a calm, safe environment.
• Enforce policies consistently and fairly during suspension periods.
• Assist students with completing academic work and provide guidance as needed.
• Communicate with teachers, counselors, and administrators about progress.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, behavior, and work completed in ISS.
• Address minor issues promptly and escalate serious concerns to leadership.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and disciplinary matters.
• Promote restorative practices and support reintegration into regular classes.
• Provide behavior support to help students reflect on actions and improve conduct.
